2007-2021 Toyota Tundra Alternator Replacement Instructions - Also For Sequoia, Land Cruiser, LX570

Parts Needed

• Alternator 130A (remanufactured) Denso 210-1157
• Alternator 150A (remanufactured) Denso 210-1147
• Penetrating oil spray

Tools Needed

• Socket and ratchet set(10mm, 12mm, 14mm, 17mm, 22mm)
• 1/2 inch impact gun
• 1/2 inch torque wrench
• 3/8 inch torque wrench
• 1/4 inch torque wrench
• 1/4 inch impact driver
• Impact driver socket adapter set
• Trim and clip removal kit
• Pry bar
• Jack stands
• Floor jack
• Rechargeable LED mini work light

Tips & Tricks

• →Access the accessory belt tensioner from the bottom — it's very difficult to see from the top.
• →Apply penetrating oil to the power steering pump bracket to help it slide out.
• →Tap the metal insert on the power steering pump mount rearward to spread the gap and ease reinstallation; apply lubricant to the mating surfaces.
• →Unbolt the sway bar before attempting to remove the alternator — it's nearly impossible to extract from the bottom with it in place, and removal also improves ratchet access to the lower alternator bolts.
• →Remove the 12mm bolt holding the transmission oil cooler lines to the engine oil pan so the lines can be moved out of the way of the lower alternator bolts.
• →Disconnect the oil pressure sensor and nearby harness clips to gain enough clearance to extract the alternator.
• →Check the two alignment dowel sleeves after removal — they can stay stuck in the block or in the alternator; ensure one is seated at each location before reinstalling.
• →The alternator sits on a stud at the top, so the top bolt will come out but the alternator won't drop until pried off the stud.
• →Moving the power steering pump as far forward as possible before unbolting the alternator gives better access to the top nut and bolt.
