Tips & Tricks
- →If equipped with active front spoiler, engage it before starting: ignition on, then off, then pull wipers UP (NOT towards you like shown in the video) and hold 2 seconds — do this within 45 seconds of shutting ignition off and don't turn ignition back on until oil change is complete.
- →Warm up the engine before draining so oil flows faster and drains more completely.
- →The front skid plate bolts at the front only need to be loosened, not fully removed — slide the plate out.
- →Use a length of 5/8 inch hose on the oil filter housing nipple to direct draining oil into a container and avoid making a mess on the subframe.
- →Always install a new drain plug gasket and make sure the old one is fully removed to avoid double-gasketing, which can cause leaks.
- →The new oil filter seal comes pre-lubricated — no need to apply additional oil.
- →Tighten the oil filter by hand only; using the filter wrench to tighten makes it very difficult to remove next time.
- →Apply anti-seize to skid plate bolts before reinstalling.
- →After filling with oil, run the engine a couple of minutes, then let it sit before checking the dipstick so oil drains back into the pan.
- →Apply a small amount of oil to the dipstick O-ring to prevent it from getting stuck.
